How Many People Have Criminal Records?

In America, LOTS of people have criminal records. It is estimated that over 70 million adults in the US have a criminal record of some sort.

What does this mean? Besides highlighting the fact that the US has the highest incarceration rate globally, it also very clearly shows that employers need to have more common sense when it comes to hiring. While the COVID pandemic made the unemployment rate jump, the unemployment rate will likely be back to record low levels very soon. That means employers will need to be open to employing individuals with criminal records to continue growing and building their workforces.

This is why second-chance employment is so critical to our economy. Employment positively impacts businesses, communities, and families by providing individuals opportunities for independence and self-sufficiency.
