Coaching services

Coaching

We help individuals in all phases of recovery overcome barriers and identify opportunities related to finding, getting, and keeping a job. This can range from those in early recovery looking for that first job in sobriety to the sober person who is currently employed and seeking career advancement.

CLEAN COMEBACK PROGRAM

Designed for individuals in recovery who are rebuilding their careers, our confidential coaching is offered on an as-needed basis. While we guide each client, our coaching agreements require that every client participates in the process. Ownership and self-advocacy are crucial components of any comeback journey!

In this program, we:

  • Identify skills and interests

  • Identify barriers to employment and create a plan to address those barriers

  • Decide whether volunteering or traditional employment is more appropriate

  • Learn to self-advocate

  • Increase their value to prospective employers

  • Prepare letters of explanation regarding criminal convictions and prep their “elevator speech”

THE RECLAIM MY CAREER PROGRAM

This program was designed for individuals whose current jobs have been impacted by substance use — folks who are still working, but need to save their careers or repair a damaged reputation. Contact Ty to sign up for your complimentary sessions.

IN THIS PROGRAM YOU'LL LEARN:

  • The #1 action you can take TODAY to change things at work

Book

Second Chance Hiring

When I entered recovery, my criminal history caused the most trouble in restarting my career, even though all I had were misdemeanors.

This book addresses the difficulties encountered by people who have been involved in the criminal justice system and highlights why employers who don’t currently hire from this pool should rethink that position.

Second chance hiring presents a tremendous opportunity for employers, job seekers and community leaders because second chance employers benefit both their businesses and their communities.

Human Resources Strategies to Lower Your Risk Through Inclusive Recruiting

Your past isn’t your future.
Your resume isn’t your destiny.

Recovery Career Services works with people in recovery to help them rebuild their careers. We provide coaching, workshops, education and support for people who have begun a new journey, and are ready to return to work. We also serve human resources professionals and a wide range of organizations working to reclaim employee potential and offer second chance employment.

Individuals in recovery face unique challenges. They have to align recovery life with work life: they have to balance workplace culture and expectations with the requirements of recovery. They also have to think about how to explain their past to a prospective employer, acknowledging the past while communicating the value they can add to an organization in the future.

It’s a difficult balance. But our work lives create feelings of success and purpose; recovery isn’t complete without addressing those basic human needs. To integrate work life into sober life, Recovery Career Services offers a suite of services to people in recovery and their employers, benefitting both.

Recovery Career Services is a Preferred Provider in the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation Patient Care Network.

Your Support

Donations help us expand our reach and improve our offerings. As we reach more people who are working to reclaim their careers and define their futures, your help allows us to provide resources for both employees and employers.

MORE OPPORTUNITy

Our first course was designed specifically for those who are dealing with past criminal justice involvement and not currently working. But many people find themselves in need of career repair after difficult times. People dealing with addiction and engaged in recovery also need accommodating employment opportunities.

  • Our first course will not be our last. Your donation will allow us to build a new course, modeled on the Employment Journey, tailored to those whose current careers have been negatively impacted by substance use disorder.

MORE EDUCATION

Our first book addresses the questions and needs of employers – a critical part of developing employment opportunities for people in recovery. But we believe that a more personal approach could powerfully incentivize employers.

  • Your donation will allow us to develop workshops and other educational opportunities to serve employers who want to engage this workforce.
